Threads of Beauty 1995–2025 is the definitive collection of a series captured over 30 years across 13 countries by photographer Yuriko Takagi.
Having once worked as a fashion designer at the forefront of the industry, Takagi turned her lens toward people for whom traditional attire is an "everyday" reality. Curated from an archive of over 1,000 images, these photographs are far more than a mere record of costumes. As she notes, "Clothing is identity, treasure, and joy for people." The images capture the undeniable presence of individuals as their clothing and bodies become one, rendered in a soft, monochromatic world. This volume explores the fragile beauty of traditional dress in the face of globalization, celebrating the resilient bond between people and the garments that support their lives.
