Volume 21 of Iwanami Shoten's series The Japanese Photographers, devoted to Kiyoji Otsuji, who took part in the postwar avant-garde movement Experimental Workshop (Jikken Kobo) alongside figures such as Shuzo Takiguchi and Toru Takemitsu. Known for modernist photographs that treat objects and still lifes in a constructive, experimental manner, he was also an influential teacher of many photographers. The volume traces Otsuji's formal work moving between the avant-garde and the everyday.
