A new edition of George Hashiguchi's signature work, in which he visited seventeen-year-olds across Japan, pairing each portrait with the subject's own words (Sangyo Henshu Center, 2007; modified A4, 200 pp). One of a series reissuing his three books 17, Father and Couple. Whether in school, at work, or adrift, each "seventeen" is present without self-deprecation. A work at the root of Hashiguchi's practice, looking squarely at the presence of young people living ordinary lives.
