Satsuei Naoki Takehisa
Pickup currently unavailable
Satsuei (Photographs / Filming) is the debut photobook by photographer Naoki Takehisa (born 1995), compiling his ongoing documentation of exhibition spaces across museums, galleries, outdoor sites, and abandoned locations.
By continuously recording the works and environments of others, Takehisa's practice transcends mere documentation, transforming into a deeply personal body of work. Delving into the historical etymology of the Japanese term satsuei—coined in the late Edo period to describe the optical fixing of images—the book explores photography as a medium that captures reality without a fixed authorial subject.
Featuring essays by Takuo Aoyama and Rintaro Fuse, alongside elegant book design by Riku Hoshika (A5 hardcover with round spine), this volume offers a profound and timely re-examination of the concepts of recording and contemporary photography.
