Sakiko Nomura: Ango(Japanese ver.) Sakiko Nomura
Pickup currently unavailable
A visionary project by graphic designer and publisher Satoshi Machiguchi, which intertwines the work of Japanese photographers with modern Japanese literature to create a "book" as a new medium of expression. Following the first three installments featuring Daido Moriyama, this fourth volume introduces the work of Sakiko Nomura.
The featured text is Ango Sakaguchi’s Sensō to Hitori no Onna (War and a Woman). Originally published in 1946, the story was heavily censored and redacted by the GHQ (Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers). This edition utilizes the "uncensored version," which was finally restored and published in 2000.
Through the masterful book design of Satoshi Machiguchi, Nomura’s evocative, intimate photography and Ango’s raw, unfiltered prose are woven together into a powerful new entity. Following the release of the German and English editions, the Japanese edition was published on August 15th—the anniversary of the end of World War II.
