The official catalogue (Crevis, 2010) of 'Shoji Ueda: Photography and Me,' the first major full-scale touring retrospective in Japan, which traveled to five venues nationwide in 2010–11. It gathers roughly 200 representative works from his earliest to his final years, drawing on the collection of the Shoji Ueda Museum of Photography in Tottori and including pieces discovered after his death. Tracing his path from the staged dune photographs to everyday snapshots, it surveys the full arc of an artist who called himself a perpetual amateur yet earned worldwide acclaim for the 'Ueda-cho' style — a rich retrospective volume taking in the whole of Ueda's art.
