On the beach Hiroshi Sugimoto
Pickup currently unavailable
This volume presents ON THE BEACH, a series by contemporary artist and photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto that remained unreleased for over 20 years. These works were captured during the creation of his life’s work, Seascapes, which he has pursued for more than three decades.
In 1990, while photographing Seascapes at a location in the Southern Hemisphere, Sugimoto discovered mysterious objects scattered across a beautiful beach. Corroded by seawater into silent, evocative forms, he captured these objects one by one from a direct, specimen-like perspective. This oversized edition (357 × 257 mm) features all 24 works from the series, alongside one Seascape from the same period. An English translation leaflet is included at the end of the book.
