Nanayuki Akiko Sudo

Nanayuki is a photobook tracing the journey of photographer Akiko Sudo as she traversed the deep snows of Aomori Prefecture in the winter of 2011. The work was born from a long, quiet expedition that began in Misawa and followed the freezing coastline all the way to the Sea of Japan.

As if echoing her wandering heart far removed from the routines of everyday life, her lens beautifully and harmoniously captures the vast, silver landscapes and the unadorned warmth of the people living within them.

With only the sound of crunching through deep snow echoing around her, her sense of self is quietly stripped away with every step.
