Mēdeia2.0 is a publishing label launched as an offshoot of Project Mēdeia1.0, which was established to use fashion as a medium to spread awareness of events and social issues around the world captured by photographers both in Japan and abroad.
While Mēdeia1.0 highlights the harsh truths of the world, Mēdeia2.0 focuses on the ‘space’ between thought and emotion, using innovative printing and book design to bring out the new charm of the photographs and works.
The first issue features Zied Ben Romdhane, a photographer from Tunisia in North Africa.
Following the Tunisian Revolution in 2011, which brought an end to the dictatorship and ushered in democratisation, Tunisia gained freedom for its people. However, the country still faces numerous challenges from an economic and social perspective.
Zied explores the question of what kind of identity will emerge in Tunisia through his photographs, titled ‘Escape,’ which capture the lives and circumstances of young people living in Tunisia.
Zied's penetrating gaze delves into the depths of the hearts of young people who spend long days with their peers in the given location, often feeling frustrated and restless.
