    LUMIÈRE Mikiya Takimoto

    €65,95

    *Available only in Europe

A leading figure across a wide range of photographic fields, Mikiya Takimoto presents LUMIÈRE / PRIÈRE—his first new works in a decade, released as a simultaneous two-volume set.

In early 2020, like many others, Takimoto found himself in a world halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. With large-scale commercial shoots and overseas travel cancelled, he happened upon a field of wild mustard flowers blooming along a riverbank. Struck by their resilient vitality—reminiscent of the plants he had previously photographed surviving in extreme, uninhabitable environments—he began to document wildflowers growing in the wild. This collection captures the diverse flora Takimoto encountered over the following three years, portraying the fleeting yet beautiful cycle of life as plants flourish and wither through the changing seasons.

The book was designed by Yuri Suyama with an exceptional commitment to materiality. Every page is printed on "Vent Nouveau," a premium paper known for balancing high-quality printability with a rich, tactile texture. The cloth-bound cover features a traditional daisen (a slender title label) and foil stamping. To reproduce the hues of the original works as faithfully as possible, the printing process utilized a five-color method—combining standard four-color CMYK with a specialized gloss varnish.
