Based in Kanagawa, photographer Shimpei Yamagami is known for his introspective works that explore the intersections of the laws of nature, human emotions, and the unseen "presence" of things.
This volume was first unveiled at PARIS PHOTO, one of the world’s largest photography fairs, in November 2022, where it was met with great acclaim from European readers. The book is composed of 64 black-and-white photographs capturing the shoreline of Kamakura, where Yamagami is based. As the viewer gazes at the fluctuations of the sea and waves—rendered solely in black, white, and subtle shades of gray—a multitude of thoughts and sensations begin to surge within their own inner self.
The book also includes a contributed essay at the end titled "In Search of a New Gaze" by book director Yoshitaka Haba.
