Kokochi Kazuki Nagayama
Pickup currently unavailable
In Kokochi, photographer Kazuki Nagayama captures the innate warmth and tactile sensitivity found in the materials and craftsmanship of woodworker Go Koyama. This volume was created for the TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR 2025 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo.
The book features a unique scrum-binding structure across 100 pages, interlaced with various paper stocks of different textures. While it acts as an extension of Nagayama’s previous work Mokusha, Kokochi explores a more casual and sensory way to experience that same essence in book form.
Koyama’s finished pieces, his studio tools, and raw fragments of wood breathe together on the same horizon through Nagayama’s lens. The shifting textures and weights of the paper provide a tactile rhythm, offering a new perspective on the imagery through the physical act of turning the page.
