A photobook Tatsuki published through Nippon Shashin Kikaku in 2016. Built around work first presented in his magazine serials, 'Kaze no Shashinki' in Photocon and 'Snapshot: Everyday Trifles' in CAPA, with new photographs and essays added (modified B5, 128 pages). The English title, 'Just Because,' names a 'freedom of indiscriminate choice,' the idea that the will can determine itself independently of any motive or reason, and Tatsuki tries to relocate the ground of photography in the sheer act of releasing the shutter, prior to any clear intention or theme. There is something refreshing in the way this master of fashion and portraiture, in his later years, returns to the everyday snapshot and deliberately lets go of the question 'why photograph?' Within its light, unfettered gaze, the sureness cultivated by a long-trained eye quietly shows through.
