A photobook in which Ikko Narahara takes the human figure as his subject, published by Shinchosha. Throughout, a paradoxical idea holds: a person standing within a landscape — or the very bearing of a person — is itself treated as a kind of landscape. Though these are portraits, they exceed the record of individuals, drawing time, memory, and the sense of presence into the frame with Narahara's characteristic poetic form. It is essential for understanding his conception of the portrait.
