Hanabi Rinko Kawauchi
Pickup currently unavailable
This work is one of the three parts of the trilogy "Utatane" and "Hanako," which Japanese photographer Kawauchi Rinko published in 2001 as her first photo book.
This book brings together scenes associated with fireworks, a beloved summer tradition in Japan, and features the moment before, during, and after the fireworks are launched, captured in various locations over a four-year period while Kawauchi traveled around Japan.
Through Kawauchi's gaze, we are reminded that fireworks are not simply beautiful, but also tinged with the transience and melancholy of a fleeting moment that will never return.
