This photobook by Jun Imajo—a photographer active across diverse media including advertising, magazines, CD covers, and film—marks his first international project since the pandemic. Captured in France and Germany, the work reflects a new chapter in his career.
The book features a unique layout: photographs of springtime France and wintertime Germany, captured on a half-frame film camera, are presented in alternating spreads. Interleaved with thin, translucent paper reminiscent of tracing paper, the structure allows the viewer to feel the two narratives weaving together as they progress through the pages.
Now that the world has emerged from the unprecedented crisis of COVID-19, Imajo reflects on what was lost and what was gained during those three years. To find these answers, he traveled through two seasons and two countries with a newly acquired half-frame camera. This volume captures the moments he chose to frame, guided by emotions and perspectives unlike any he had felt before.
