GOSSAMER Yuko Kotaki
Pickup currently unavailable
The title Gossamer (translated from the Japanese Itoyu) refers to the phenomenon of fine spider webs drifting and shimmering in the air on a clear spring day. True to its name, this monochrome photobook by photographer Yuko Kotaki captures the subtle rifts within a faint, uncertain vision, much like those delicate threads swaying in the breeze.
While time and space undeniably exist right before our eyes, a sense of quiet illusion—reminiscent of being under a calm, lingering fever—pervades the entire work.
"Am I a lonely person now? No, that’s not it. I am simply as unsettled as a spider’s thread, so fragile and soft, swaying in the wind."
With her uniquely delicate gaze, Yuko Kotaki peers into the subtle, fluctuating emotions of human solitude and the fleeting yet beautiful fissures that slip into our daily lives, transforming these fragments into a serene world that gently invites the viewer into deep contemplation.
