Finding Annu Aalto Eri Tatara
Pickup currently unavailable
The story of this photobook quietly unfolds when a few rolls of unused film left behind by the late photographer Annu Aalto, who passed away in 2022, find their way into the hands of her friend and fellow photographer, Eri Tatara.
"I want to take photographs." Guided by these words from her departed friend who appeared in a dream, Tatara loaded the inherited film into her camera and stepped out into the early morning streets. As she began to release the shutter, she heard the gentle voice of the friend she could no longer meet: "Tataran, the world is so beautiful."
Finding Annu Aalto is a photobook akin to a quiet prayer. Embracing the grief of loss, the one left behind traces the gaze of her departed friend, looking anew at the world together. It beautifully illustrates that even after someone leaves this world, the bonds we share never truly fade; instead, they transform into an invisible, enduring connection that remains right by our side.
When thinking of a loved one, you might feel a sudden, slight dizziness. Beyond that sensation, the presence of someone watching over this beautiful world alongside you breathes within the light captured on these pages.
