Dream Always Yoshihiko Ueda

Japanese photographer Yoshihiko Ueda, together with members of Suntory's advertising department, copywriter Takashi Ando, and art director Kaoru Kasai, traveled around China over a period of approximately 20 years from 1990 to 2011 to take photographs of the advertisements for Suntory Oolong Tea.
While the advertisements are for a product, they do not incite people to consume; rather, they quietly but surely have an appeal that captures people's hearts and eyes, and they have been passed down through the ages as classic advertisements.
This book is a collection of photos that includes the shots used in the advertisement, other unpublished shots, and snapshots that Ueda took on a 35mm camera while traveling.
The photographs, painstakingly taken with an 8x10 large-format camera over a long period of time traveling around China, are not only a record of the journey, but also a historical record capturing the former landscape of China, which has unintentionally undergone rapid transformation.
The people who lived in that era, the beautiful nature that embraced them, and the delicate sunlight that pours down upon them all evoke an unforgettable image of the scenery that once existed in China.
