DEAR OLD DAYS II 光景宛如昨 Ryoji Akiyama
Pickup currently unavailable
Thirty-eight years after the release of the seminal Dear Old Days (1983), Ryoji Akiyama returned to his archive of 8,000 unreleased negatives to curate this second volume. Conceived as the "yin and yang" counterpart to the original book, Like Yesterday reveals the stories and nuances that remained untold for nearly four decades.
While maintaining Akiyama’s signature graphic compositions and warm perspective, this collection shifts its focus toward the objects and environments that shaped the children’s lives—vintage bicycles, tin pencil cases, and the bustling energy of pre-development China. More than mere nostalgia, these images capture a "miraculous healing" through human connection and a profound sense of security. It is a masterful documentation of a rich spiritual world, offering a gentle, tactile warmth that resonates deeply in our contemporary era.
