DEAR OLD DAYS Ⅲ 往事成追憶 Ryoji Akiyama
Pickup currently unavailable
The final installment of the celebrated Dear Old Days trilogy, which captures the spirit of China in the early 1980s. Curated from over 8,000 unreleased negatives, this volume shifts its lens beyond the innocence of childhood to document the broader "landscapes of the era"—the labor, fashion, and daily rituals that nurtured a generation.
The 119 plates meticulously reproduce the distinct palette of vintage Sakuracolor film. Notably, nine images retain visible mold spots that could not be removed, serving as a poignant reminder of the passage of time and the acceptance of life’s imperfections. The book also features a profound dialogue between Akiyama and photographer Hideaki Hamada, who was deeply influenced by this series. As the grand finale of the trilogy, this work invites readers to transform their memories of the past into a radiant light for tomorrow.
