Japanese photographer Kazuhei Kimura captures his insights through photographs inspired by "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome," a condition he has suffered from since childhood.
Alice in Wonderland Syndrome causes hallucinations of distance, time, and the size of objects on a scale that differs from reality.
Around the same time that Kimura began his photographic expression, he learned that the symptoms he had been suffering from were recognized as a disease known as "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome," and he wanted to create photographic expressions based on this syndrome.
He then set about creating the work, using the title "Stones and Peaches" as a guidepost, inspired by the contrasting mixture of "achromatic, hard things" and "colorful, soft things" that occasionally fills his field of vision due to "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome."
This book is a re-edited collection of works originally exhibited over four periods between 2022 and 2025 at Gallery ROll in Iidabashi, Tokyo.
The careful attention to detail in the binding, bookbinding, and page layout allows the reader to relive the distortions and gaps in space and time that Kimura has visualized through "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome," as well as the psychology of being placed in that situation.
