BAU Takashi Suzuki
Pickup currently unavailable
This volume brings together the diverse forms of Takashi Suzuki’s BAU series, created by arranging colorful sponges against a stark black background. Produced in a compact format nearly identical in scale to the original subjects, the book contains the entire series of 500 works. The substantial volume created by its numerous pages gives the book a presence not just as a publication, but as a sculptural object in itself.
Having studied under Thomas Ruff as a research student at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and later assisting Thomas Struth, Suzuki was deeply influenced by the lineage of Bernd and Hilla Becher. Within this framework, he has developed a singular visual language that invites viewers to enjoy the inherent uncertainty of human visual perception.
