Magical Transit Days Yayoi Arimoto
Pickup currently unavailable
A photo book by Japanese photographer Yayoi Arimoto.
Once working as a flight attendant for the Italian airline Alitalia, Yayoi Arimoto mentioned her desire to create something tangible. During a conversation with a fellow passenger on board, she mentioned her desire to create something lasting. The passenger suggested photography might be interesting, which prompted her to purchase the Fujifilm TIARA compact film camera, which the passenger specifically recommended.
Having always loved traveling, she began taking photos as a hobby during transit and long vacations.
Over the next nearly ten years, she continued to photograph, holding solo exhibitions and receiving magazine shoots, and photography began to take up a larger share of her life. Gradually, she began to feel more interested in photography than in her job as a flight attendant, and decided to retire and pursue a career as a freelance photographer.
This book was published in 2006 as a milestone when Arimoto retired from the company.
This book features 57 color photographs taken in Italy, Japan, Germany, India, Brazil, and other parts of the world, along with text written by Arimoto herself.
The book design was created by art director and graphic designer Hideki Nakajima.
