- To somewhere other than here. A journey to trace her own roots leads back to her hometown.
Haruka Fujita's lifework has been photographing her hometown of Sendai and the Tohoku region. Starting from there, she traced her old family lineage to Russia, which she visited as her final destination. At the end of her journey to her roots, the earthquake struck. This led the Tokyo-based photographer to take a fresh look at her hometown.
Against the backdrop of this unforgettable event, the strength of the dazzling fresh greenery and beautiful flowers resembles the strength of the people of Tohoku, who have been building their land for hundreds of years.
We realized that this is the memory of the land where we are now.
This book is composed of landscapes of Russia in the early winter of 2011 and the Tohoku region photographed over a two-year period from spring 2011 to 2012.
