Seibutsuga, meaning “still life” in Japanese.
This book by Japanese photographer Yoichi Onoda was inspired by his previous photo book "Clay and Light," a collection of photographs of ceramist Kosuke Teramura's work and the landscape of Mashiko, which he had the opportunity to exhibit in Taiwan. Using a color palette, portraits of women, plants, and other elements that reflect the Taiwanese atmosphere, he created a painting that evokes the bewitching beauty and modernity of old Asian films. The book's cover, with its dark purple velour texture, further enhances the exotic feel of the book.
