Hotare Manabu Someya

Hotare is the highly anticipated new photobook by photographer Manabu Someya, woven together over a period of nine years since his previous work, Michi no Ki.
The journeys he undertook across various quiet towns in Japan during this nine-year span were previously shared in three exhibitions: "Ro," "Hotare," and "Roku no Fune." From these vast travels, 45 carefully selected scenes have been curated to form this volume.
His lens captures the unadorned, everyday landscapes of serene towns. Yet, through Someya’s profound and tranquil gaze, these captured moments quietly transcend mere travel documentation. With every turn of the page, the sceneries begin to resonate with the viewer’s own deep-seated memories, gradually transforming into a nostalgic and somewhat poignant "mental landscape."
It is a book you will want to gently open whenever you wish to pause within the constant flow of time and quietly reflect upon your own inner world.
