Haru and Mina Hideaki Hamada
Pickup currently unavailable
This is the latest edition of Hideaki Hamada's series, Haru and Mina, which documents his two children. Hamada personally selected 313 photographs from over 8,000 taken during an approximately 11-year period, spanning July 2009 to April 2020, compiling them into this 504-page volume.
The ordinary daily life and commonplace scenes of the two children—moments that might otherwise be instantly forgotten—flow slowly in chronological order through the recurring cycle of the seasons, yet inevitably move toward the separation that awaits them one day.
The familiar, universal scenery brings forth a mysterious sensation in the viewer, awakening something deeply important within the heart. Before you realize it, you are drawn into the book, indulging pleasantly and wistfully in hazy, distant memories lingering in your mind.
This collection quietly narrates the essence of the act of taking photographs to preserve memory and calling time back to the present.
