This is a collection of unpublished works that were discovered along with "Yokohama Gorakuso" during the preparation of "GRAIN AND IMAGE" held at the Yokohama Museum of Art in 2017. The book is composed of 38 photographs of Kanazawa Hakkei, plus 7 works taken on commuter routes at the time, and was titled "Beginnings" because it was the first work in the artist's career. The title "Beginnings" refers to the artist's first works in his career. This exhibition marks the return to the light of day of an important body of work that leads up to his early trilogy, "Zessho, Yokosuka Story" (1979), "Apartment" (1978), and "Renyo no Machi" (1981).
