Working as the representative for the Nagoya-based creative production company "discovery go", Kazuya Sudo is also active as a photographer who takes pictures of Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto. Based in Aichi and Kyoto, he records Japanese culture and life through photos and videos on the theme of encounters and discoveries.
This book, "Tsuruko," is a photo book compiled over the course of a year after meeting tea ceremony and kaiseki chef Tsuruko Hanzawa. This book contains the record of a year spent listening to the whispers of nature in the spring, summer, fall and winter at her schoolhouse in Yase, Kyoto. The work captures the tranquil beauty of the nature that certainly exists there and, through photography, shows that the time spent focusing on the tranquility of nature is itself an act of confronting the present.
