And a Pinch of Irony with a Hint of Love Yurie Nagashima
Pickup currently unavailable
This is the official catalogue for the first major solo exhibition (held at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in 2017) by photographer Yurie Nagashima, who continually questions the social roles of "family" and "women" through her work.
Nagashima's photographic expression, rooted in a personal perspective that combines both radicalism and resilience, is internationally acclaimed and widely supported, especially among the younger generation.
The book offers a comprehensive, retrospective survey of her nearly 40-year career, starting from her early self-portraits created while she was an art student to her most recent works at the time of the exhibition, showing the evolution of her artistic world.
Through her uniquely gentle yet coolly observed photographs, the volume traces her sustained inquiry into the relationships between presence and absence, and the individual and the collective. It includes critical texts by Momo Nonaka and Takahiro Ito.
