Swaying Flowers Ayaka Endo
Pickup currently unavailable
This is a photobook by Tokyo-based photographer Ayaka Endo, who has recently gained attention for her expressions of spiritual belief (animism), which is viewed as the origin of religious culture.
This volume is a remake of a large-format handmade book she produced upon graduating from university. It features works created through a specific process: photographs of flowers, taken with various cameras, were transferred onto fabric, and then the edges of the fabric were intentionally unraveled.
Just as the subject in the photo seemingly achieves eternal beauty through the artist’s hand, that very sense of eternity is then undone by her hands on the fabric. Yet, it regains eternity once again when printed onto the pages of the book. This volume marks a crucial turning point in the photographer's winding journey toward her current artistic expression.
