TYO-WTC Taiji Matsue
Pickup currently unavailable
This is the latest work by Taiji Matsue, a photographer who persistently and boldly challenges the essence of photography. Created by observing a single corner of the city of Tokyo from a nearly fixed point, this work does not follow the linear evolution typically associated with fixed-point observation, nor does it lead to a conclusive completion.
Within the book's continuous pages, the flow of time moves both forward and backward repeatedly, with color and monochrome sections alternating, ensuring that every turn of the page is filled with a new discovery. Through this meticulous composition, Matsue addresses fundamental issues inherent in photography while simultaneously depicting the nature of the city—a place where construction, completion, and destruction are perpetually repeated, existing in a constant state of becoming.
