Selected Works by photographer Toshiya Watanabe is a captivating collotype portfolio featuring six carefully selected pieces from his acclaimed Somewhere not Here series. The defining characteristic of these works lies in the use of an infrared filter, which dramatically transforms ordinary scenes—capturing real landscapes like flowers, birds, and bridges—by turning the leaves white and the sky black. This technique imbues the photographs with a profoundly dreamlike quality, creating fantastical images that seem to guide viewers into the very depths of the artist's imaginary consciousness. To bring these ethereal visions to life, the portfolio utilizes collotype, one of the oldest photographic printing techniques, executed by the esteemed Benrido Atelier (founded in Kyoto in 1905). Revered for its use of oil-based pigment inks, this process ensures the impeccable reproduction of fine gradations, offering a remarkably smooth and deep texture. Housed in a beautiful slipcase (258 x 206 mm), this special edition is strictly limited to 300 copies worldwide. It is a highly collectible art piece that leaves a lasting visual and tactile impression.
