Butterfly had a dream Atsushi Fujiwara
Pickup currently unavailable
Following his previous work Nangokusho, photographer Atsushi Fujiwara has released the remarkable photobook, Butterfly Had a Dream.
Turning the pages feels like following a butterfly as it flutters across the sea to Miyako Island. In a sanctuary-like place where the present world and the afterlife intersect, the photographer's gaze quietly intertwines with the perspective of his late father.
As Fujiwara states, "Without photography, the fragmented desires for expression within me could not have been bound together." In this work, memories of his family and country, the subconscious, and a longing for lost time are imprinted onto photographic paper as light and shadow. It is a profound and tranquil book that traces the trajectory of a dream seen by a "butterfly"—an ancient symbol of the soul.
