Duality Masaya Tanaka

Masaya Tanaka, a photographer from Hyogo Prefecture, has been active in a wide range of fields, primarily in fashion, including advertising and artist photography. This work marks his first photo book, published as he embarks on a new chapter as an artist.

He is known for his diverse expressive style and intuitive sense of composition, which draw out the unique character of both clothing and models—ranging from elegant and chic to pop and street—regardless of genre or gender. He places great value on the beauty and depth that emerge when contrasting elements coexist within a single frame.This book features a collection of photographs that document his daily observations of color, shape, and atmosphere, centered on the theme of “the coexistence of opposites.” Throughout the book, Tanaka explores duality—light and darkness, strength and fragility, tension and calm—highlighting the harmony created by these contrasting elements.
