M/E Rinko Kawauchi
Pickup currently unavailable
This is the latest photobook, M/E, by photographer Rinko Kawauchi, known for her uniquely pale tones that capture the mystery, brilliance, fragility, and strength of all life.
The title M/E signifies "Mother" and "Earth," reading as "Mother Earth" and also "Me." Inspired by her 2019 visit to Iceland, the work explores the profound and inseparable connection between the planet's vast, eternal nature (geysers, glaciers) and the subtle events of human daily life.
Beautifully designed by Hans Gremmen, the book features photographs printed on delicate, thin paper with striking foil stamping on the cloth cover. It concludes with a letter-like essay by writer and art historian Teju Cole.
