Set in European cities such as London, Liverpool and Nuremberg in what had been West Germany, it captures fragments of streets and of people living within rushing time. Its compact format, a modified A5 running to 160 pages, concentrates the attention to young people and ordinary passers-by that had long been Hashiguchi's subject. Documentary plainness and a lyricism toward scenes met along the way intersect here; standing in the extension of the European experience that runs through Isn't It Nice to Be Here and Berlin, it takes a lighter, more fragmentary form. As the title 'Shissou' (running at full tilt) suggests, what runs through the pages is not a static record but the sense of speed caught by a body and a gaze in continuous motion. A rewarding high point of Hashiguchi's travel photography.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0758/0218/1921/files/1_ae689161-fd29-4025-8cc3-3865608a2720.jpg?v=1790831875
