This is a collection of works by Masahito Agake, who is usually engaged in building design as a first-class architect and also works as a photographer. Agake spent his childhood at a time when Japan was experiencing a boom in occultism, such as ESP, UFOs, and psychic phenomena, and he has continued to be interested in folklore, other worlds, and ghosts even after he became an adult. As an extension of this interest, he was drawn to the "mountains," and he and his son visited a decaying, abandoned village in the middle of nowhere. By following the traces of human presence there, he shows us a unique view of the world, as if we had wandered into another world. The soft-focus style of this work, which makes the most of the invisible, creates an atmosphere of enchantment that makes us want to step into the village with trepidation, even as we sense an unseen presence and feel a sense of mystery.
